My dog is all kinds of sappy these days. I don’t know if it’s the weather or he’s completely grown out of the puppy phase. He pretty much HAS to be by Josh or I. You should see him if we’re in separate rooms. He will lay in the doorway so he can see us both or alternate 10 minutes with each of us. It’s so funny.
Bebo has always slept on the bed with us. It started with the first night we got him and he cried so much that I let him curl up with me. A couple months ago Josh and I decided (okay, well I decided…Josh is a pushover when it comes to our dog) that Bebo should sleep at the foot of the bed instead of squished in between us. I was waking up to about six inches of bed for me with my legs hanging off. Bebo and Josh tend to move closer to me in the middle of the night.
So we got a blanket for Bebo and put it at the end of the bed. The first night I had to pick him up and put him down there probably 10 times. He would just keep walking up to us. After about a week he got the hang of it and now we just have to point to his blanket and he’ll curl up there.
That ornery little guy knows though that we won’t make him go back to the end of the bed when we’re asleep. Sometime in the early morning he will almost always crawl up and either sleep on my pillow right next to my head or nose his way under the covers and sleep in the middle of us.
I’ve made progress though because there is less time for my husband and dog to steal the covers and most of the bed from me. Now I wake up with a dog pressed against me but at least I’m not getting pushed off my own bed. And really, who can be mad at a face like that?
Yesterday was Bebo’s 3rd birthday. I still can’t believe in December we will have had him for three years. I still remember picking him out from all of the little puppies. He walked up to Josh and licked his arm. That’s how we knew he was the one. We drove home with a baby puppy on my lap. We stopped in Lincoln so my brother could meet the new addition to the family. Bebo puppy-hopped outside of Tony’s dorm. I think we all fell in love that day.
We’ve come a long way. I kind of forget how much work a new puppy is and all that Bebo got into. Even though I kind of wish he was still that young, I’m glad we’re past that stage!
One of the most memorable things from my brother’s wedding day had absolutely nothing to do with the wedding. I had just gotten home from getting my hair done. Josh and I took Bebo outside before we needed to finish getting ready. As we brought him back in I noticed something on his little polo shirt. I asked Josh if he had got some mud on him. I bent down to look at Bebo and I just knew.
“Bebo rubbed himself in POO!”
Josh started laughing hysterically. I pulled the polo off but it was on his ear and shoulder too. Josh grabbed Bebo and put him in the tub to wash him off. I scrubbed the shirt. Disgusting.
So about 30 minutes before we were supposed to be leaving Josh and I were cleaning poo off of our dog. Definitely not something I’ll forget about Tony’s wedding…
I feel tapped out this week. No inspiration…nothing exciting to talk about. I’m just really ready for the weekend!
“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.” -John Lubbock
I was laying on the floor of the kitchen (getting this shot) when Josh walked in.
He looked at me and said, “I adore you. You are the single greatest thing that happened to me. Seeing you laying on the floor, camera in hand…well, it just reminded me of that.”
This little guy makes me really happy. When I’m feeling anxious or upset, he’s right there ready to snuggle with me. Bebo and I spent a couple hours cuddled up on the couch yesterday and on Saturday. He was my shadow just following me around all weekend, waiting for me to sit down so he could get on my lap. I sure do love that puppy.
Bebo and I are looking forward to the weekend. We’re hoping for some extra time to sleep. Also we’d like coffee, chocolate, sudoku, movies, warmer weather, good shopping deals, eating out, snuggle time and surprises. Hope you all get what you’d like this weekend.
