This sweet dog puts up with a lot from Jasper. I wonder how many times a day I say, “Jasper! Leave Bebo alone!”. Thankfully Bebo is very tolerant of Jasper and usually likes playing. I really like that Jasper has a dog as a friend.

a couple pictures from yesterday

painted pumpkins

After seeing this post about painting pumpkins, I decided to do some myself. Jasper and Josh each painted one too. I was going to do some glitter pumpkins after seeing the pin on Pinterest a thousand times. The problem with glitter is that it just goes everywhere so I decided to skip that one. I’ve been painting a lot in the evenings anyway as it’s a good stress reliever. These were fun little things to paint.

snuggling with buzz lightyear

I came downstairs to see Bebo asleep on his back, using a pillow, next to two Buzz Lightyears. That dog is something else…

garbage day

And no Tuesday is complete without standing at the window to see the garbage pick-up. Jasper always waves and says thank you to the guys that pick up our garbage. A couple weeks ago out of habit he blew them a kiss. Ha. Thankfully I don’t think they saw that.

it was a rough night

Being home all night without Josh is especially difficult. Though I was the one to get up with Jasper if he woke up, it was still nice to know someone else was there to help. A few weeks ago I was feeling lonely as I went to bed so I thought I would let Bebo sleep in bed with me. (Normally he sleeps in his kennel in my room.) Sometime around 3am Jasper woke up and headed to my room. As his door creaked open Bebo barked. By the time Jasper got to the loud creaking hallway, Bebo was losing his head. (For whatever reason he doesn’t bark when he’s in his kennel.) Jasper screamed for me because Bebo had just scared the crap out of him. He came running in, crying for me and his little heart was racing.

I laid him next to me and calmed him down but Jasper was wide awake. After a little bit I put him back in his bed but he just came back to my room. I did something I never do, I let him lay in bed with me. Finally around 5am he fell asleep and by then I was too tired to move him. Josh came home from work to Jasper and I knocked out. I could never do the co-sleeping thing but this picture warms my heart.

glad it’s Friday

so pathetic

I found my dog sleeping like this the other night. It was so pathetic that I laughed. I kind of feel like that today. Glad this week is almost over. Anxious to celebrate Jasper’s second birthday on Sunday… I hope everyone has a good weekend!

a boy and his dog

kissin' bebo

Growing up I always wanted a dog and we finally got one when I was 13. It’s weird for me to think how Jasper will grow up with Bebo. Bebo was there to greet Jasper when we brought him home from the hospital. Bichons are known for being so great around kids and very personable. Bebo is no exception. Jasper is constantly chasing him, yelling for him, playing with him. They are quite good little buddies.

When we’re on our way home from somewhere Jasper will ask for Bebo. I’ll say, “Yep, we’re going home to see Bebo”. As soon as Jasper gets in the door he will pet Bebo and exclaim loudly, “Bebo!”. Bebo will show that he missed Jasper too by giving him a quick lick on the face. It’s pretty darn cute. I’m so glad that they get along well and are friends.

puppy cut

we asked for the "puppy cut"

I have been a bad puppy mommy. Poor Bebo needed his haircut weeks ago and he finally got one last night. We asked our groomer to give him a “puppy cut”, which is a bit shorter than your typical Bichon cut. Someone said he was getting chubby a week ago so we decided that just wouldn’t do. Now he looks so scrawny and those ears…tiny!

He’ll feel a lot better when he’s outside though. Plus in a week his new haircut look will have grown out enough that he’ll look even more adorable.

Completely Unrelated: If you have a minute, read this little article and watch the video.

bebo is feeling neglected

smile big, bebo

Today I bring you Bebo because this blog has definitely been lacking in Bebo time. I think he’s feeling slightly neglected lately because Josh and I have been sick. He has taken to peeing on the floor again and barking at everything. He has gotten really good at going right into his kennel when we tell him to.

bebo’s boots

The other night Josh and I picked up some little booties for Bebo’s feet. His little paws get really cold when he has to stand out in the snow for a while. They were five bucks at Petco so I didn’t feel like I’d be out much if he didn’t want to wear them.

He actually doesn’t mind them too much but it is hilarious when we first put them on his feet. He high-steps it all over the kitchen. I took a little video of him (but excuse the gross apartment carpeting).

sharing the bed

his favorite spot on the couch

My dog is all kinds of sappy these days. I don’t know if it’s the weather or he’s completely grown out of the puppy phase. He pretty much HAS to be by Josh or I. You should see him if we’re in separate rooms. He will lay in the doorway so he can see us both or alternate 10 minutes with each of us. It’s so funny.

Bebo has always slept on the bed with us. It started with the first night we got him and he cried so much that I let him curl up with me. A couple months ago Josh and I decided (okay, well I decided…Josh is a pushover when it comes to our dog) that Bebo should sleep at the foot of the bed instead of squished in between us. I was waking up to about six inches of bed for me with my legs hanging off. Bebo and Josh tend to move closer to me in the middle of the night.

So we got a blanket for Bebo and put it at the end of the bed. The first night I had to pick him up and put him down there probably 10 times. He would just keep walking up to us. After about a week he got the hang of it and now we just have to point to his blanket and he’ll curl up there.

That ornery little guy knows though that we won’t make him go back to the end of the bed when we’re asleep. Sometime in the early morning he will almost always crawl up and either sleep on my pillow right next to my head or nose his way under the covers and sleep in the middle of us.

I’ve made progress though because there is less time for my husband and dog to steal the covers and most of the bed from me. Now I wake up with a dog pressed against me but at least I’m not getting pushed off my own bed. And really, who can be mad at a face like that?
