the season for baking

As we did last year, we’re planning a little Christmas get together with our neighbors. I love having people over and baking for it. Last year I made gingerbread houses for our mugs. This year I think besides the other cookies I’m planning I’m going to make Bakerella’s snowmen cake pops.

I’m also considering the dotty winter trees by Bake at 350, chocolate peppermint crinkle cookies, and I love the chocolate marshmallows from Good Housekeeping.

I always have a really hard time narrowing down what to make. Last year I think I made five or six different kinds of cookies. I’ll probably end up doing that again. I love Christmas and baking so the two combined is a perfect storm for me.

This is why we are BFFs. You love Christmas and baking, *I* love Christmas and eating baked goods. :)

I bookmarked the link to the dotty-tree cookies. I’ve seen a tutorial on how to make the frosting and the effect. Have you done this before…if so, how would you rate making these (1 easy…10 hard). I would like to do something like this, too…but not sure I have enough confidence. :)

Brooke – I have made royal icing before. It is very easy to make but I think slightly difficult to get to the perfect consistency. You should definitely give it a try! Royal icing is a lot of fun.

Sounds great! I read up more about it on Pioneer Woman’s cooking section of her website for correct consistency. Here’s hoping! Happy baking to you! We are baking at Mom’s house on Monday.
